Our retail shop is open May through the end of October.                      HOURS: Wednesday - Friday  10am-5pm & Saturday 10am-4pm

Sutra means thread and we have a passion for textiles!

We travel to India and Indonesia to directly source beautiful hand-crafted home textiles, as well as clothing and accessories for both women and men. Your purchases help keep alive the art forms of khadi, bandhani, blockprint, kantha, sujni, mirror embroidery and ikat ! By our process of hand-selection, you are assured of the best quality and that artisans are paid fairly!

Visit Our Dakota, MN Shop

We encourage you to visit our shop before October 28 for the best selection of handmade and fair trade items! As of that date, SUTRA global imports will close permanently.  Possibly, you may see us in a "pop up shop" format in the Midwest!

This winter 2018, we will travel from January to mid-March, with our primary focus to lead the tour to Bali.

Our retail shop will close permanently on October 28, 2017, but you can shop online for much of the year.  If you see a photograph of a product you want to purchase via mail order, and it is able to be shipped, contact us to explore that option!  We can bill via paypal or take your credit card information over the phone.  Shipping of lightweight items is often low cost or free!

You will find 2 floors of ethnic home décor, women’s clothing, scarves and jewelry, folk art, exquisite textiles, wood carving, stone garden statues, basketry, furniture and sacred objects. You will hear stories of the real lives of artisans and how your purchases make a difference!

We accept all credit cards and package your gifts in bags made of recycled newspapers, created by the women of Jan Sandesh in India.  We support progressive businesses and NGO’s (non-governmental organizations) that empower rural and disadvantaged groups. Ask about the story behind your purchase; since everything is hand-selected, you'll enjoy this special connection with your purchase!
