Travel to India

February 24 - March 12, 2018

India is the most complex, colorful and chaotic place I know, and if truth be told, you don’t choose India; India chooses you. You go to India because there has always been some longing to step into Mother India’s rivers, bazaars and temples, and you trust this feeling.

Follow me to India, and immerse your creative soul in this ancient civilization.

Join intrepid traveler Kim Hammer for a mid-winter adventure on the Romance India 2018: A Tour for Art Lovers!

  • Tour 7 beautifully preserved UNESCO World Heritage Sites in northern India, which include forts, palaces, mausoleums, an astronomy observatory and old cities.

  • Experience the Eternal Gandhi Multimedia Museum, a world-class display of early 20th century history, and stroll through the gardens where the “Father of India” spent his last 144 days.

  • Learn creative photography from Master Photographer Rohit Guatam on a walking tour through peaceful gardens and old temples in Delhi, the nation’s capital.

  • Behold the exquisite Taj Mahal, the world’s incomparable symbol of eternal love, under the full moon!

  • Create your own work of art using the age-old technique of block-printing, using authentic hand-carved wood blocks under the guidance of expert teachers.  No artistic experience is necessary.

  • Explore the exquisite and ornate Amber Fortress-Palace near the Pink City of Jaipur; the royal architecture was created in the 16th century by the trusted general of the Emperor Akbar.

  • Appreciate the ornate Meherengarh Fort and its historical museum in the Blue City of Jodhpur, with lunch overlooking a restored step well.

  • Soak up the home-cooked food and hospitality in the small-village homestay of a family of dhurrie rug-weavers in desert Rajasthan, with village safari experiences to see wildlife and local culture.

  • Observe artisans creating beautiful clothing and other textiles, statues and jewelry, and other local handwork.

  • Wander through the painted havelis (mansions) located along the Silk Route, some decaying and others exquisitely restored, in the world’s largest, and very photogenic, outdoor art gallery. Lunch at the restored Haveli Nadine Le Prince.

  • At the start and the finish of the tour, enjoy meditative reflection in the Lotus Temple and within the devotional atmosphere of the Sikh Temple, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.

  • Walk along the holy lake at Pushkar, which is said to be created when a flower dropped from the Hindu god Brahma’s hand to the earth.

  • Meals (vegetarian and chicken) are generally ordered “family style”, with 5 or more dishes to share, so that by the journey’s end, you will have experienced a wide array of Indian food and local Rajasthani cuisine.  Alternatives (Chinese and snack foods) are available in most places.

Testimonials from Travelers

As a retired world-traveling US diplomat, I have a high bar to meet when traveling to distant lands. My trip to India, under Kim’s informed, organized, sensitive guidance, fully exceeded that bar.

Marvelous sights, mixed with exposure to a plethora of people and experiences, across as wide a swath of this extraordinary country as could be comfortably covered in two weeks—all made it meaningful and unforgettable. How Kim managed to arrange for such wonderful accommodations as well as a competent, thoughtful driver for such a reasonable/affordable price—is beyond me.

The proof-in-the-pudding: I’ve just signed up for her 2018 trip to Bali and am expecting more of the same!
— Peggy, India 2017 Traveler
Kim is such a natural and effective leader . I really appreciated your patience with us and enthusiasm for India.  When I look at my pictures and recall all that we saw and did I feel wonderful about the trip.
