Wisdom Energies and Prayer Flags: the colors in and around us
This workshop runs on 2 evenings: Thursday May 24th and June 7th from 6 - 8:30pm. BOTH evenings are included in the workshop fee.
In this two part course with Winona native Nicolle NEILL Jensen, we will scratch the surface of the Buddhist teachings on the five wisdom energies, also called the Buddha families, the basis for the five colors of the prayer flags. The wisdom energies give us insight into our strengths, and also awareness of our weaknesses. They can facilitate growth within us, generating deep insight and free us from long held patterns. As we explore these energies through lecture, dialogue, and meditation, we will also put what we learn and discuss into action through the creation of our own set of prayer flags. Each person will walk away with a set of flags infused with the love of community and connection, made in a contemplative space that honors the origin of this sacred object.
Padma, the color red, is the energy of connection and expression- warm, loving, even a bit lucky. When unbalanced, it is needy and insecure. Balanced, it is confidence.
Ratna, the color gold, is the energy of abundance- welcoming, nurturing, providing. When unblanced, addiction and greed drive us. When balanced, we are generous.
Vajra, Buddha, and Karma complete the circle- join us to learn more!
Each class will include a presentation, discussion, meditation, mantra, and plenty of time for art, questions, and enjoyment of community. This class is appropriate for all ages, young and old, and all people, whether you have a deep history of study or are brand new to spiritual exploration.
